The Owner/Operator is hands on in the day to day operations of the business. They are the face of the business in their community - running the sales and back office functions, meeting with prospective clients, sourcing flowers from local nurseries, and scheduling their installer’s planting route each week. To begin with, they’ll be managing one installer/planter, but as their customer list grows they will hire and train additional installers to service their community. In this model, the owner is happy to jump in and get their hands dirty, assisting with the installation of windowboxes and plantings as necessary.

A part-time executive owner ownership model allows you to start, own, and run the business while still maintaining your day job, or while owning other businesses. Part-time executive ownership still requires work and a moderate time investment once it's up and running. Many part-time executive owners think of these as side hustle businesses, used to generate semi-passive income. The key to executing this business model is hiring a Sales and Ops Manager to run the day-to-day aspects of the business. You will Manage the Manager and will also serve as the face of the business in your community, maintaining a visible presence at community events that draw your key client base. While your manager will hire installers to handle windowbox installs and quarterly plantings, and assist with that work as necessary. This business strategy is usually a long-term play to build a more expansive empire.
