Training:

Session 1 - Business Training

You (or, if operating as an entity, a Principal Owner) along with your Store Manager must attend 2.5 days of Business Training. This program covers pre-store opening procedures and essential tools needed before launching your location. Topics include real estate and site selection, business planning, new store development, marketing, personnel management, and QuickBooks. You (or, if operating as an entity, a Principal Owner) are required to attend the first available Business Training session after signing the Franchise Agreement.

Session 2 - Operations and In-Store Training

You (or, if operating as an entity, a Principal Owner) and your Store Manager must also complete 7 days of Operations and In-Store Training.

Operations Training currently lasts 5 days and includes instruction on back-of-house administration, loss prevention, inventory management, customer service, store standards, grand opening marketing, merchandising, and product knowledge.

In-Store Training takes place at the corporate store for approximately 2 days and focuses on the core areas involved in operating your new location, including POS system training, store procedures, product buying, local store marketing, customer service, and visual merchandising.

You (or, if operating as an entity, a Principal Owner) and your Store Manager must successfully complete Business Training before attending Operations and In-Store Training. Prior to Operations and In-Store Training, you must also have a signed lease submitted to the company and have ordered your fixture package. All Operations and In-Store Training must be completed before the start of your "Open to Buy" period.

Ideal Candidate

The most successful Children’s Orchard owners aren't necessarily retail experts; they are community leaders.

  • The Enthusiastic Multi-tasker: You’ll be managing staff, buying inventory from the public, and assisting shoppers simultaneously. High energy is a must.

  • Community-Oriented: A passion for helping local families and an interest in sustainable living are core to the brand's identity.

  • Managerial Mindset: While you can operate as an absentee owner eventually, the brand thrives with "hands-on" leaders who can train and inspire a team of roughly 6 to 10 employees.

  • Location Preference: Ideal sites are 2,400 to 3,500 square feet, located in high-traffic shopping centers anchored by "mom-friendly" stores like grocery chains or fitness centers.
