Description

The Novus Glass franchise is one of the most established and respected names in the global auto glass repair industry. Built on a repair-first philosophy, the brand focuses on restoring windshields instead of replacing them whenever possible, offering cost-effective and environmentally responsible solutions for vehicle owners, fleet operators, and insurance partners across the United States.

With decades of industry credibility and a proven mobile-service model, Novus Glass holds a strong position in the U.S. automotive services market. The brand is recognized for its proprietary repair technologies, consistent service standards, and long-standing insurer and fleet relationships. Franchise owners benefit from a business that is recession-resistant, operationally lean, and aligned with consumer demand for fast, convenient, and sustainable auto services.

As vehicles remain essential to everyday American life, demand for windshield repair and auto glass services continues year-round. Novus Glass franchisees operate under a globally recognized name while serving local communities through mobile units, fixed service centers, or hybrid operations. This balance of brand authority and local ownership makes Novus Glass an attractive franchise opportunity for entrepreneurs seeking a scalable service business with lasting demand.

Background

If you or someone you know owns a car, you understand how frustrating it can be to replace a damaged windshield. After having to replace his windshield three times due to minor cracks, Frank Werner decided he’d had enough. Determined to find a better solution, he partnered with chemical engineer Bill Wiele to create a way to repair windshields instead of replacing them.

In 1972, they founded Keinath Inc., named after Werner’s business partner Gerald Keinath, to introduce their patented windshield repair system to the public. Shortly afterward, the company rebranded as Novus, a Latin word meaning “new.”

From the start, Novus established a reputation for pioneering technology that allows technicians to repair windshield damage that many competitors wouldn’t even attempt. This not only saves customers money but also preserves the safety and integrity of the factory-installed windshield seal.

As vehicle technology advanced, Novus continued to innovate—especially in auto glass replacement. Modern cars often include Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which rely on a forward-facing camera located behind the windshield. After a windshield replacement, this camera must be recalibrated, typically requiring a trip to the dealership.

To make this easier for customers, Novus partnered with Pilkington North America, enabling franchisees to calibrate ADAS systems in-house rather than sending customers to a third party. This keeps the service efficient, convenient, and reliable.

Today, Novus is known as an industry-leading, innovation-driven brand that provides its franchise owners with some of the best training and technology available. If you’re passionate about chemistry, problem-solving, and helping drivers stay safe on the road, the NOVUS Glass franchise could be an excellent fit for you.
