Camp Bow Wow Expands North Texas With Three New Franchises
Camp Bow Wow is growing across North Texas with three new franchise locations planned for Weatherford, Burleson and Granbury, expanding its reach.
New Franchise Owners Bring Camp Bow Wow to Three Texas Markets
Camp Bow Wow is adding to its already significant Texas presence through a new three-unit franchise agreement that will introduce the dog daycare and boarding concept to Weatherford, Burleson and Granbury.
Fort Worth entrepreneurs and married couple Trinity Shields and Abigale “Abby” Freeman are entering franchise ownership with plans to develop all three locations. Their first Camp Bow Wow is expected to be established in Weatherford before the couple moves forward with the additional North Texas markets.
The agreement represents more than another territorial expansion for Camp Bow Wow. It also provides an early example of how the pet care franchise is using a redesigned, lower-investment development model to attract entrepreneurs interested in building multiple locations.
First-Time Franchisees Choose a Multi-Unit Strategy
Shields and Freeman had been exploring franchise opportunities when Camp Bow Wow emerged as a concept that aligned with both their business objectives and their interest in animal care.
Rather than beginning with an independent pet care operation, the couple selected an established franchise system that could provide operating processes, brand recognition and ongoing support as they enter the industry.
Their decision to commit to three territories also reflects a longer-term approach to franchise ownership. Weatherford will serve as the starting point, allowing the partners to develop experience with the business before expanding into Burleson and Granbury.
The three communities extend Camp Bow Wow's reach through the southwestern side of the Dallas-Fort Worth region, where suburban population growth continues to create opportunities for service businesses catering to families and pet owners.
Camp Bow Wow Introduces Lower-Investment Prototype
A major component of the expansion is Camp Bow Wow's newer franchise prototype.
The company has redesigned its development model to reduce the capital required to build a new Camp by more than $400,000 compared with its previous format. The smaller and more flexible footprint is intended to give franchisees a wider selection of potential real estate while making multi-unit development more practical.
Real estate and construction costs can create significant barriers for large-format pet care businesses because operators require enough space for daycare, boarding and other services. By reducing certain development requirements while maintaining the core customer experience, Camp Bow Wow is seeking to improve the economics of opening additional locations.
The company has also been introducing similar prototype locations in other markets, including Virginia and Tennessee.
For aspiring multi-unit owners, the model could make it easier to expand incrementally rather than committing substantially more capital to every new facility.
Texas Remains an Important Market for Camp Bow Wow
Texas already represents one of Camp Bow Wow's larger state markets.
The company lists more than 30 locations across Texas, including Camps throughout Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Austin and other growing metropolitan and suburban communities.
However, the brand still sees room for additional development. Several Texas territories remain targeted for future franchises, demonstrating that Camp Bow Wow's existing presence has not eliminated opportunities for further expansion.
Weatherford, Burleson and Granbury give the company additional coverage outside the densest parts of Dallas-Fort Worth while positioning the new franchise owners in communities where residential growth and demand for professional pet services may support long-term development.
More Than Daycare and Boarding
Camp Bow Wow has built its business around several complementary pet care services.
Locations primarily offer dog daycare and overnight boarding, while many Camps also provide grooming and enrichment services. This creates multiple opportunities to serve the same customer throughout the year rather than depending on a single type of transaction.
The brand emphasizes supervised play, trained Camp Counselors, climate-controlled facilities and live webcams that allow owners to check on their dogs remotely.
For Shields and Freeman, community involvement will also form part of their local growth strategy.
The franchisees plan to develop relationships with veterinarians, animal shelters and rescue organizations in the communities surrounding their Camps. Those partnerships could help the new locations build awareness while establishing themselves as part of the broader local pet care ecosystem.
Camp Bow Wow Continues National Franchise Expansion
The Texas agreement arrives during a broader growth period for Camp Bow Wow.
The franchise operates more than 220 locations across the United States and has also entered Canada. Camp Bow Wow signed 14 new franchise agreements during 2025, while parent company Propelled Brands entered 2026 with plans to accelerate development.
Camp Bow Wow has also refreshed its branding and redesigned its franchise footprint as it works to attract both first-time entrepreneurs and experienced multi-unit operators.
The latest North Texas agreement brings several of those initiatives together.
Shields and Freeman are new to franchising, yet their first agreement covers three locations. At the same time, the reduced-investment format gives them a development strategy intended to make expansion from one Camp to several more manageable.
If the Weatherford location performs as planned, Burleson and Granbury will follow, creating a three-market Camp Bow Wow platform for the Fort Worth-based entrepreneurs.
For Camp Bow Wow, the deal strengthens an already large Texas network while demonstrating how the company's revised development model could support its next stage of franchise growth.
