Ideal Candidate

This goes along with the section below in terms of ideal candidacy. The Esthetician, compared to the Manager, compared to the Investor changes the daily synopsis dramatically. The esthetician is waxing 3-4 days per week while supporting the employees in their efforts. The same for the Manager, less the waxing performance. Either of these "types" would expect to support the salon by restocking retail, watching over the employee schedule and bookings, working with corporate on marketing and advertising strategies, working with bookkeeping for bill paying and accounting. Really, it's not that we say it's "easy," but we've been doing this for 17 years and once up and running, it's rinse and repeat in terms of the business operations. Checking Guests in/out, taking payment, performing the wax, tidying up the salon, etc... We have the systems in place to make it run smoothly.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
Perhaps obvious, but purposefully stated, they must have enough cashflow to get them through the growth period to cash flow positive. From there, there are 3 “types” of franchisees.

  1. The Esthetician. She is licensed and expects that she will be working in the salon 4-5 full days per week performing waxing/sugaring services. Doing this means her cashflow situation is the best because instead of paying a Waxer, she is doing the services herself. She also grows the business more quickly because she is the best person to do the selling in terms of her shop and brand. She carries her own torch and makes sure Guests return, creating her cyclical revenue stream.
  2. The Manager. This person is not doing waxing but is working at the salon daily behind the desk and attending to business affairs. They are in full attention to the business and acting in a support and supervisory role to Waxers. They are focused on excellent Guest service along with focused marketing and co-promotions to bring in more business and illumination.
  3. The Investor. We know the margins are great so we should have people buying locations just for cashflow as part of their personal portfolio. This person should be looking to open multiple locations in successive years; someone business savvy who will likely hire someone to manage the business on site.

In all cases, we want people who understand the cycles of business and understand the stressors of being in business. As the franchisor, we are here to support and offer guidance and expertise, and we need franchisees who are passionate about their success and see growth as their path. Driven, passionate, accommodating, customer-focused, high stamina, excitable – these are characteristics for the Esthetician or Manager. The Investor – savvy, sturdy, focused, driven, qualified.
