Pigtails & Crewcuts Strengthens U.S. Franchise Growth Plans
Pigtails & Crewcuts is strengthening its franchise system with expanded support, better training, upgraded technology and continued U.S. growth now.
Pigtails & Crewcuts Strengthens Franchise Growth With New Support Systems
Pigtails & Crewcuts is building fresh momentum in the children’s salon franchise industry, but its latest expansion story is about more than simply adding locations.
The kids hair salon brand has spent the past several years strengthening the infrastructure behind its franchise network. Investments in franchisee education, operational technology, dedicated support personnel and development resources are giving the company a stronger foundation as it targets additional U.S. markets.
For Pigtails & Crewcuts, the strategy reflects a deliberate shift toward making sure franchise owners have better systems around them as the network expands.
Franchise Support Becomes a Bigger Part of the Growth Strategy
Pigtails & Crewcuts has long operated around a specialized concept: creating a salon experience designed primarily for children while giving parents a more comfortable and convenient alternative to a traditional hair salon.
As the franchise system grew, however, supporting an expanding network required more resources at the corporate level.
Beginning in 2024, the company significantly expanded its franchise support capabilities. It grew its team of Franchise Support Specialists, adding professionals focused on helping owners with operations, training, problem-solving and ongoing business development.
That investment came during an important growth period. Pigtails & Crewcuts recorded a company-high number of franchise awards in 2024, with a meaningful share coming from existing owners choosing to expand their portfolios.
Repeat investment from current franchisees can be an important indicator for an emerging franchise system because those operators already understand the economics, operational demands and day-to-day realities of the business.
Training Moves Beyond the Initial Opening
One of the most significant additions has been Pigtails & Crewcuts University, a learning management platform designed to provide ongoing education throughout the franchise network.
Rather than limiting structured training to the period before a salon opens, the platform gives different members of the organization access to role-specific education.
Franchise owners, salon managers and stylists can use the system for courses covering areas including onboarding, operations, leadership and the customer experience.
For a service business, consistency becomes increasingly important as a franchise grows across different states and ownership groups. Parents visiting a salon in one market should be able to expect an experience that reflects the same brand standards they would encounter elsewhere.
A centralized training platform can help reduce variation while giving franchisees another resource for developing managers and employees.
Technology Is Also Getting an Upgrade
Pigtails & Crewcuts has also been updating the technology supporting salon operations and customer appointments.
The brand has introduced a refreshed booking experience and upgraded systems designed to simplify appointment management, customer records and communication. Its newer mobile booking experience allows participating salon customers to review services, see stylist availability, book appointments and manage upcoming visits.
These changes may appear customer-facing, but they also have operational implications for franchisees.
Better scheduling, customer data and communication tools can help local owners manage repeat business while making it easier for busy parents to interact with the brand.
The company has also been working on marketing improvements connected to its point-of-sale infrastructure, creating more opportunities to use system data to strengthen customer engagement.
Pigtails & Crewcuts Continues Expanding Across the U.S.
The operational investments are taking place alongside continued franchise development.
After a strong 2024, the company reported double-digit year-over-year growth during 2025 and entered 2026 with a substantial development pipeline.
During the first half of 2026, Pigtails & Crewcuts signed four new franchise agreements covering East Hanover, New Jersey; Snellville, Georgia; Odessa, Florida; and Nashville, Tennessee.
The Nashville agreement is particularly notable because it calls for three salons, further developing a state that has become an important market for the brand.
Pigtails & Crewcuts now operates an 85-plus-unit system, with additional salons planned across the country.
The company continues to identify expansion opportunities in markets including Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Utah.
A Specialized Concept in the Children’s Hair Care Market
Pigtails & Crewcuts has built its identity around children from infancy through age 12.
Its salons are designed to make haircuts less intimidating for younger guests through colorful interiors, child-focused environments and stylists accustomed to working with kids.
Beyond haircuts, participating salons may generate revenue through services and products such as first-haircut packages, retail merchandise, hair accessories and other family-oriented offerings.
That specialization provides a clear market position. Instead of competing solely as another general hair salon, Pigtails & Crewcuts is attempting to own a narrower category centered on children and families.
Building the Infrastructure Before the Next Growth Stage
The latest chapter for Pigtails & Crewcuts shows how franchise expansion can depend as much on internal infrastructure as new franchise sales.
Adding franchise locations can increase system revenue and brand awareness, but rapid development also places more pressure on training, operations, technology and franchisee communication.
By expanding its support staff, creating continuous education resources and modernizing its technology, Pigtails & Crewcuts is preparing its franchise system to manage a larger footprint.
With new franchise agreements in the pipeline and existing operators continuing to participate in expansion, the children’s salon brand appears focused on pursuing its next phase of growth with stronger systems behind every new opening.
