Clean Your Dirty Face Joins IMAGE Studios Franchise Platform
Clean Your Dirty Face joins Gorgeous Collective, gaining new resources to accelerate franchise growth across the professional U.S. skincare sector.
Clean Your Dirty Face is entering a new stage of franchise growth after being acquired by Gorgeous Collective, a recently launched beauty and wellness platform anchored by IMAGE Studios.
The deal is the first acquisition for Gorgeous Collective and gives the company an immediate presence in the growing professional skincare franchise market.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
For Clean Your Dirty Face, the move provides access to a larger franchise infrastructure while allowing the company to continue operating under the brand that founder Shama Patel has developed over the past decade.
Clean Your Dirty Face Begins Its Next Growth Chapter
Patel launched Clean Your Dirty Face in Chicago in 2015 with the idea of making professional skincare easier to fit into a customer's regular routine.
Instead of building the experience around long spa visits, the company developed a streamlined facial concept centered on 30-minute treatments.
The model uses a standardized five-step facial process performed by licensed estheticians. The company also sells its own skincare products, giving locations another source of revenue beyond treatment services.
Over time, Clean Your Dirty Face expanded through franchising and built a presence across the United States. The system now has roughly 33 locations open or in development.
The longer-term opportunity could be considerably larger. The brand has discussed expanding toward approximately 200 locations as additional franchise markets are developed.
Memberships Support Repeat Business
One of the features that attracted Gorgeous Collective to Clean Your Dirty Face is its recurring customer model.
Rather than relying only on occasional facial appointments, the concept encourages customers to make skincare part of their normal wellness routine through memberships and repeat visits.
That can give franchise operators a more predictable customer base while creating opportunities to generate revenue from both services and retail products.
The operating model is also relatively focused compared with larger spa concepts offering dozens of treatments.
Clean Your Dirty Face concentrates primarily on facial skincare, allowing locations to develop systems around a narrower service offering.
Its proprietary product collection includes formulas targeting areas such as acne, anti-aging, brightening and men's skincare.
Gorgeous Collective Plans to Build a Beauty Franchise Portfolio
The acquisition also provides a clearer picture of what Gorgeous Collective wants to become.
IMAGE Studios founder Jason Olsen launched the platform with the goal of acquiring and supporting established businesses in beauty, wellness and personal care.
Rather than replacing the identity of the brands it acquires, Gorgeous Collective plans to provide centralized business resources that can help them expand.
Clean Your Dirty Face is expected to gain access to support covering marketing, technology, franchise development, real estate, construction, supply chain and other areas of operations.
That type of shared infrastructure could become especially important as the skincare franchise increases its development pipeline.
Gorgeous Collective is not expected to stop with one acquisition. The company is looking at additional businesses that complement its existing beauty portfolio and has indicated that several more acquisitions could follow in the coming years.
IMAGE Studios Provides the Franchise Foundation
IMAGE Studios gives Gorgeous Collective an established operating base from which to build.
The salon-suite franchise provides independent beauty professionals with upscale spaces where they can operate their own businesses.
Its experience in franchise development, real estate, construction, technology and support services created much of the infrastructure that Gorgeous Collective now intends to use across multiple brands.
Clean Your Dirty Face brings a different model into that system.
While IMAGE Studios serves independent beauty professionals through salon suites, Clean Your Dirty Face operates directly in the consumer skincare market.
That gives Gorgeous Collective exposure to another part of the beauty industry while creating opportunities to apply similar franchise-development resources across both businesses.
Founder Shama Patel Will Remain Involved
The acquisition does not mean Clean Your Dirty Face is being absorbed into IMAGE Studios.
The skincare company will keep its existing brand, and Patel is expected to remain involved as the company moves into its next phase.
Maintaining that continuity could be important for franchise owners and customers who already know the concept.
At the same time, the additional resources behind the company may allow Clean Your Dirty Face to move into markets that would have been more difficult to develop independently.
A Bigger Push Into Beauty Franchising
Beauty and wellness concepts have increasingly attracted franchise investment because many services require customers to visit physical locations regularly.
Facials, hair services, massage, fitness and other personal-care businesses cannot be replaced entirely by online shopping, creating opportunities for brands that can develop strong membership and repeat-visit models.
Clean Your Dirty Face fits directly into that trend.
Its combination of short appointments, memberships, retail skincare products and a focused operating model gives Gorgeous Collective a platform it can attempt to scale nationally.
For Gorgeous Collective, the acquisition is only the beginning of a broader multi-brand strategy.
For Clean Your Dirty Face, it brings additional resources to a franchise system that already has national ambitions.
The next test will be whether that combination can move the skincare brand from dozens of locations today toward a much larger national footprint.
