Sparkle Grooming Raises $6M to Accelerate Franchise Growth
Sparkle Grooming raises $6M to accelerate franchise expansion, strengthen support and convert its growing pipeline into open salons across the U.S.
Pet Grooming Franchise Moves Into Next Growth Phase After Surpassing 600 Licenses
Sparkle Grooming Co. is preparing to accelerate the rollout of its national franchise network after securing $6 million in strategic growth financing.
The Scottsdale, Arizona-based dog grooming franchise announced the new capital as it transitions from aggressive franchise development toward opening a much larger number of operating salons across the United States.
The financing was led by Companion Fund, an investment fund managed by Digitalis Ventures in partnership with Mars Petcare. The relationship brings Sparkle more than additional capital, giving the emerging franchise access to an investment group with experience across pet care, animal health and related consumer businesses.
For Sparkle, the timing is significant.
The company has surpassed 600 franchise licenses awarded in approximately two years of franchise development. However, only a fraction of that pipeline has reached the operating stage so far. Sparkle currently has 10 salons open nationwide and expects that figure to reach at least 20 before the end of 2026.
More than 30 additional salons are planned to open during 2027.
That makes the company's next challenge different from its first.
Turning Franchise Agreements Into Operating Locations
Selling franchise territories can create a large development pipeline, but sustained franchise growth ultimately depends on successfully converting signed agreements into operating businesses.
Sparkle says the new financing will help strengthen the infrastructure required to support that transition.
The company plans to use the capital to expand support for franchise partners, improve its operating platform and continue building the systems necessary to manage a growing national footprint.
Sparkle was founded in 2022 with the goal of bringing greater consistency to the dog grooming industry. Its franchise model combines grooming and hygiene services with memberships, technology, standardized operating procedures and a hospitality-focused customer experience.
The company describes its approach as Quick-Service Pet Care, or QSPC.
Rather than treating grooming exclusively as an occasional appointment, Sparkle positions routine grooming and hygiene as part of ongoing pet wellness.
The membership component is particularly important to the franchise model because it encourages customers to return regularly instead of relying entirely on one-time transactions.
Multi-Unit Franchisees Drive Sparkle's Development Pipeline
Much of Sparkle's expansion has been built around multi-unit and regional development agreements.
During 2026, the company announced several significant territory deals across major U.S. markets.
A 29-unit development agreement is expected to expand Sparkle throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties in Southeast Florida.
The company has also signed a 21-unit regional development agreement for the San Diego market and an 18-unit agreement covering Greater Philadelphia.
Those agreements demonstrate how Sparkle is using experienced multi-unit operators to build clusters of locations rather than relying exclusively on individual single-unit franchise owners.
The strategy can help a young franchise establish market density more quickly, although successfully opening and supporting those locations remains critical as the system grows.
Strategic Investor Brings Pet Industry Experience
The involvement of Companion Fund adds another dimension to the financing.
The fund was created through a partnership involving Mars and Digitalis Ventures and focuses on businesses connected to animal health and pet care.
Sparkle CEO and co-founder Ben Crawford has indicated that the value of the relationship extends beyond funding because Digitalis brings experience within the broader pet industry.
The investment comes at a point when Sparkle is moving from primarily building its franchise pipeline toward strengthening the operating platform behind that pipeline.
The company's ability to support franchisees through site development, salon openings, customer acquisition, membership growth and ongoing operations will become increasingly important as more locations enter development.
Pet Grooming Industry Continues Expanding
Sparkle's expansion is also occurring within a growing pet services market.
The global pet grooming services industry was valued at approximately $6.9 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach roughly $10.3 billion by 2030.
North America represented about 40% of global pet grooming revenue in 2024.
Consumer spending on pets, increased attention to animal wellness and growing demand for professional grooming services are contributing to expansion throughout the category.
Subscription and membership-based service models are also becoming increasingly relevant as businesses attempt to generate stronger customer retention and more predictable visit frequency.
Sparkle's strategy sits directly within those trends.
Instead of operating as a traditional appointment-driven grooming salon, the company is attempting to create an organized franchise platform where recurring customer relationships form part of the core business model.
Sparkle Enters an Important Stage of Franchise Growth
The company's more than 600 awarded franchise licenses represent a substantial development pipeline for a brand founded only a few years ago.
The more important milestone now will be converting that pipeline into successfully operating salons.
With 10 locations currently open, at least 20 expected by the end of 2026 and more than 30 additional openings planned for 2027, Sparkle is entering a period in which franchise operations and development execution will become increasingly visible.
The $6 million financing gives the company additional resources to support that process while continuing to pursue qualified multi-unit franchise partners in selected markets.
For Sparkle Grooming, the next chapter will be measured not only by the number of territories awarded, but by how effectively the company builds a sustainable nationwide network from the franchise commitments already in place.
