D Spot Dessert Cafe Launches U.S. Franchise Growth in Dallas
D Spot Dessert Cafe enters the U.S. with its first Dallas location as the Canadian dessert franchise prepares for broader North American growth now.
D Spot Dessert Cafe is taking its franchise growth beyond Canada as the dessert brand begins a new chapter in the United States.
The company recently opened its first U.S. restaurant in Dallas, marking an important milestone for a concept that has steadily expanded since launching in Canada in 2014.
D Spot began franchising in 2017 and has since grown to 55 locations. The Dallas restaurant becomes the brand’s 56th unit and provides a starting point for a much larger American expansion strategy.
Kaan Sayiner, who became president and CEO of D Spot in June, sees significant room for growth south of the Canadian border. The U.S. offers a much larger customer base and more opportunities for franchise development in major metropolitan markets.
Canadian Franchisees Bring D Spot to Dallas
The Dallas restaurant opened July 11 and is owned by franchisees Abdul Khan and Faizan Mirza.
Both operators have backgrounds in retail, hospitality and business operations. They also have Canadian roots and were already familiar with D Spot before bringing the concept to Texas.
Their connections to the brand and existing franchise community made Dallas a natural first step for D Spot’s U.S. expansion.
The new location also gives the company an opportunity to introduce American customers to the full D Spot experience rather than launching with a smaller menu.
D Spot Offers Three Franchise Formats
One part of D Spot’s franchise strategy is its flexible restaurant model. Franchisees can choose from three formats depending on the market, location and available real estate.
The Express format typically requires between 1,200 and 1,600 square feet and focuses exclusively on desserts.
A mid-sized D Spot generally occupies between 1,800 and 2,300 square feet. In addition to desserts, these restaurants offer a smaller selection of savory items such as pizza, burgers, sandwiches and wings.
The largest format ranges from approximately 2,500 to 4,400 square feet and serves the company’s complete food and dessert menu.
D Spot selected the full-size concept for Dallas as part of its strategy to build awareness among consumers who may be experiencing the brand for the first time.
Standing Out in the Competitive Dessert Market
The U.S. dessert industry is filled with established brands specializing in individual categories such as cookies, ice cream and other sweets.
D Spot is taking a different approach.
Instead of building its identity around one product, the company offers a broad dessert selection under one roof while also providing savory meals at its larger restaurants.
That variety allows the concept to appeal to customers looking for a quick dessert as well as families and groups interested in sitting down for a full dining experience.
The company plans to make that flexibility an important part of its marketing message as it introduces D Spot to more American markets.
D Spot Targets 65 Locations by Year-End
D Spot expects to reach approximately 65 locations by the end of the year, including five restaurants in the United States.
Additional U.S. openings are planned for markets including Atlanta and Chicago.
As the company searches for new locations, it is focusing on major cities, strong visibility and retail areas surrounded by other well-known consumer brands.
The strategy is designed to give new restaurants greater exposure while helping D Spot establish itself quickly in markets where brand recognition is still developing.
International Franchise Expansion Is Also Planned
D Spot’s growth plans extend beyond Canada and the United States.
The company is preparing to open its first location in the Middle East in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. That restaurant is expected to open between late 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.
The brand is also exploring master franchise opportunities in Southeast Asia, India and Australia.
For D Spot, the Dallas opening represents more than another restaurant. It marks the beginning of a broader international franchise strategy aimed at introducing its dessert-focused dining concept to customers around the world.
